I’ve always been a big fan of comedian Stephen Colbert and am eagerly looking forward to the day when he takes over the Late Show from David Letterman. About a week ago he featured a hilarious segment about how he has changed his view of Canada following the recent shooting in Ottawa carried out by a deranged individual. It’s all in jest, of course, but Colbert manages to at least put some humour into what by any measurememt was a real tragic event.
Stephen Colbert says he is in awe of Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers, the hero of the shooting in Ottawa last week. And, Colbert makes amends for all the bad things he's said about the Great White North over the years. Here are just a few excerpts from his monologue:
I just found out that Canada has its own government. Even more shocking it is not led by Wayne Gretzky.
Folks, I have not been this moved by something Canadian since the return of Degrassi.
And I cannot believe I'm saying this, but I was wrong about Canadians….they are not just a bunch of maple sucking moose-humpers
Thanks for visiting!
