Calgary, Alberta born U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has given up his citizenship from his birth country, Canada, making good on a promise from last summer. Spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said Sen. Cruz formally gave up his citizenship May 14. He received written confirmation of the action at his Houston home Tuesday, June 10. She said the Republican “is pleased to have the process finalized.” Most Canadians are more than pleased, they are overjoyed that Cruz is no longer Canadian!
Under U.S. law, a foreign-born child is entitled to American citizenship if at least one parent is an American. That was the case for Ted ‘Calgary’ Cruz — and it’s a very important point if he decides to run for President of the U.S. in 2016. The U.S. Constitution requires a president to be a “natural born” citizen.
But, the legal consensus is that since his Mother was born in the USA he is eligible to run for President. Birthers never afforded President Obama that same consideration.
So, Senator Ted ‘Calgary’ Cruz has something in common with President Barack Obama after all. Even if you don’t believe that President Obama was born in Hawaii as his Birth Certificate proves, there is no argument whatsoever that his Mother, Ann Durham, was born in Kansas. The wacko ‘birthers’ still insist President Obama was born in Kenya but even if that were true he would have been an American at birth – just like Ted ‘Calgary’ Cruz. What does “Bozo the Trump’ now say about Cruz?
Our poker group wrapped up our 45th year of poker last night |
After not getting home last night from poker in Victoria until 12:30am, I was too tired to even think about posting a blog and decided to just wait until morning to see if I felt like writing anything. Last night marked the end of our 45th year of playing poker once a month for our small group of 5. Now, we’ll take the summer off and begin again in September. I ended the year on a good note winning $3.50 last night!
Thanks for visiting!
