A Great Birthday Party And Mason Loved His Hot Rod!

Mason just loved the hot rod we got him for his birthday. As soon as he saw it, he broke out into a big smile, crawled right over to it, climbed in and the smile never left his face for the next half-hour.

Look Uncle Kevin, I’ve got my own car now!

We had a full-house here on Sunday afternoon and by the time most everyone left for home early in the evening we were all very full, tired and even sore from laughing so much. Out little man raked in quite a haul from his aunts, uncle and cousin for his 1st birthday and he had a great time pulling all the paper off his gifts. In fact, the tissue paper was quite an attraction to him all by itself.

After our extended lunch it was finally time for Mason’s big moment – his Birthday Cake! This turned out to be very interesting and quite funny.

What is this stuff? It’s sticky and messy!

This was the first time Mason ever he was allowed to have cake. He wasn’t quite sure exactly what it was. He stuck his hand in the icing, took it out and looked at it and seemed a bit put-off that it was all sticky and messy. When we tried to get him to lick his hand to taste it he shook his head “no’! It’s funny how little babies learn to do that – shake their heads no! How do they learn that so fast?

Eventually, Mason dug both hands into the cake and proceeded to make a real mess with icing up to his elbows. Before things got too far out of hand, Paulette cut him a piece of cake and put it on his tray. He played with that cake and pushed, smushed and scattered it but try as we may we couldn’t get him to eat any! Well, he’ll get another chance next Sunday for his actual birthday on June 15th!

Finally, today June 9th, I turn the big 7-0. I’m not much on birthday celebrations for myself but I did enjoy having all the kids over yesterday especially since I could share the birthday party with Mason and Kevin. Now, it’s onward to 80!
