Q. Sent: Wednesday, July 10, 2013 5:28 PM

I really enjoyed your class last night. I still can’t figure out what I am doing about closing screens. Seems I do have the X on some things and not on others. Will try the things everyone suggested. Thanks

A. Glad you enjoyed the class.

If you are in the Desktop area you will have an X at the top right. If you are in the Tiles area you slide your cursor to the top of the page and the arrow will change to a hand, left click and drag it to the bottom and it will close.

Response: Tried it and it works!! Thank you so much.

Have a great day.

----------------------------------------

From a Classmate:

I paid $549.99 for my computer at Office Depot on July 29.. When I checked ID online yesterday morning, it was advertised at $499.99. Upon my request, the $50 + tax was refunded to me last night. Are our classmates aware of this policy?

I did this at Staples on another item.

----------------------------------------

Q. My speaker symbol is not there.

A. Go to Control Panel and click on Notification Area Icons

clip_image022

Now click on the down arrow across from Volume, and select what is shown above.

----------------------------------------

clip_image024

From Mike Seiler: While watching a recording on your Insight DVR you can advance ahead by exactly 5 minutes by pushing the up arrow key and back it up exactly 5 minutes by pushing the down arrow key.

Hi Joe,

What security do you recommend for TWC? Is it free? Thanks,

A. I use Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows 7, you must download this. and its first cousin Windows Defender which comes installed in Windows 8.

I do not use what insight recommended, it slowed the computer down and I think TWC offering might do the same and all of the these are free.

Anyway the two I mentioned are great and will take care of emails, internet, and anything else. I’ve had no problem with them and have heard of no classmate having a problem.

Q. I am trying to find how to make my internet page blank like you do yours? Thanks,

A. Click on the Start button, type Internet options in the blank and hit Enter, you get this screen.

Click on Use new tab and at the bottom click on OK.

Response: Got it! This is so much better! Thanks,

Hi Joe

Thanks for your help with my E-Mail Address at twc.com.

I called the 1-877-772 2253 to get help. They tried for 3 days and part of the 4 day and failed to get it to work.

I called the local number 514-1400 for help. The tech said it was easy and he walked me through it in about 5 minutes.

Thanks Joe
